Court Security
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the security of all Circuit, District, Juvenile and Family Courts as well as the common areas in the two buildings in which they are held. Additionally, Sheriff’s Deputies staff an electronic surveillance station in each building and handle the daily movement and transportation of prisoners scheduled for court appearances.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will be closing Wednesday, October 1st at noon through Thursday, October 2nd to pay respects and honor the passing of Sheriff John Aubrey. Our office will re-open on Friday, October 3rd. We appreciate your patience during this difficult time.

Items not allowed in court
- Guns
- Knives
- Box Cutters
- Hand Cuff Keys
- Tools
- Glass Bottles
- Unauthorized Badges
- Sharp Items
- Anything that may be used as a weapon
What to expect upon entering
When entering either the Hall of Justice or the Judicial Center, the following Items must be removed before going through the metal detectors:
- Wallets
- Keys
- Coins
- Cellular Phones
- Pagers
- Cigarettes
- Lighters
- Any foil packages
- Batteries
- Watches
- Metal Belt Buckles
If after removing these items, you still set off the metal detector, you may be scanned with a metal detector wand. All bags, purses and umbrellas will have to be scanned by the x-ray machine.
- Please advise officers if you are wearing steel toed shoes.
- Advise officers if you have a medical condition that prohibits you from walking though a magnetometer (metal detector)
